Good-Bye to the NHL Lockout But Are Fans Saying Good-Bye Too?

The NHL and the renowned players of the ice finally came to an agreement this past Sunday, officially ending the lockout. After four long months of dispute, fans, players and the NHL alike can finally rejoice in the action-packed sport that notably leaves fans on edge.  In the marketing perspective where does this leave the NHL now? Many have been posing questions on whether fan size will decrease.

Sports PR, PMBC Group

PMBC Group, Los Angeles’ Sports PR Agency, is excited for the comeback of the season but many wonder how the fans will react. Obviously there are those, die-hard fans, who held on to their season tickets but for those avid fans who tune in or trickle in to watch lives game, have they changed their decisions? NBC Sports asked around 50,000 fans on their thoughts about whether or not they would come back to the NHL and results stated that, “54% answered yes and 12% said they never followed the sport, while 12% are taking a wait-and-see approach and 18% responded no.” On top of the 18% what happens with the extra 30%? The lockout definitely hurt the fan base and we will wait and see how the rates turn out. We’re keeping our hopes high for that puck in the net!
