USPA Certifies the Temecula Valley Polo Club

Galway Downs Equestrian Center was filled with applause on Friday night, as Geraldine Strunsky, president and cofounder of The Temecula Valley Polo Club, along with members and friends, celebrated the club’s recent certification by the United States Polo Association.

Friday night attendees included Robert Kellerhouse, the center’s manager; Scot Walker, the lieutenant governor of the USPA and board members, all of whom were able to preview the upcoming season, and walk the new field.

Last year, Galway Downs’ owner Ken Smith converted the center’s racetrack infield into a regulation sized polo field, the perfect setting for The Temecula Valley Polo Club. With the newly acquired certification, the club is permitted to host clinics and start a polo school to introduce the sport to novice riders. Strunsky also plans to form teams and invite other Southern California clubs to compete. The club, which is set to open in May, will partner with local nonprofits and charities to host events during the May through October season.
