LinkedIn and Lee Daniels’ “The Butler” Link Up

From a small-time social network to a global online database for business professionals,  LinkedIn  lands its first movie role. Officially announced yesterday, the company will have a promotional partnership with The Weinstein Company’s upcoming film “The Butler,” this according to Mashable’s Sean Fitz-Gerald.

“The Weinstein Company is committed to executing innovative and efficient tactics to market our films, and teaming with LinkedIn to highlight the inspiring story in Lee Daniels’ The Butler was a perfect fit,” said Bladimiar Norman, Weinstein’s senior vice president of marketing. “We’re thrilled to be LinkedIn’s partner on their first major film promotion.”

For those who may not know, “The Butler,” which is inspired by Wil Haygood’s 2008 Washington Post article “A Butler Well served by this Election,” takes movie-goers on an emotional adventure as told through White House butler Cecil Gaines (Forest Whitaker), who served seven presidential administrations from the 1950s to 1980s.

A fictional story, combined with historical events and figures, along with an all-star cast, The Butler presents an array of powerful scenes that streamline an unprecedented look into the life of an African Butler who served and lived in a world of politicians during the 1960s civil rights movement, leaving your imagination pondered about a behind-the-scenes hero.

Here at PMBC Group, a Los Angeles PR Firm, witnessing LinkedIn’s collaboration with The Weinstein Company to raise awareness about “The Butler,” a movie which exhibits part of our country’s history, is a film we support in a movement towards a world of equality.
