Obama Honors 16 of Our Nation’s Finest with the Medal of Freedom

What do talk show host Oprah Winfrey, former President Bill Clinton and country music legend Loretta Lynn have in common? President Barack Obama presented them and thirteen other individuals with our nation’s highest civilian honor, the Medal of Freedom.

It was a particularly moving awards ceremony as this week marks the 50th anniversary of the passing of the medal’s founder, President John F. Kennedy. Obama delivered a brief tribute and members of the Kennedy family were in attendance to honor him.

It is said that the medal “goes to men and women who have dedicated their own lives to enriching ours.” It is meant to honor, inspire and remind Americans of their potential. One of the recipients, the late Sally Ride, took reaching for the stars quite literally as the first female American astronaut to travel to space.

Here at PMBC Group, a Los Angeles Technology PR Firm, we honor the brave and innovative people who have enriched our lives.
