Uber Cuts Deals to Lower the Cost of Cars

Thanksgiving is a holiday not only for people to eat delicious food but also for many Americans, it’s a time to drink while enjoying the company around you. However, as our society relies on the majority of people to drive to get from point A to point B, mobile apps offering services like Uber are crucial for safe driving.

The demand for Uber is growing and they are now working on getting more drivers on the roads by cutting deals with auto manufacturers and financing providers to lower the cost of car ownership for specifically, Uber drivers! The plan is to start this process with six of its fastest growing markets.

Those markets include New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, and San Francisco. These easy financing opportunities will be available to those who already drive for the company, as well as drivers who might have been approved but don’t currently own their own cars.  This will help Uber to add more drivers while also maintaining a standard level of vehicle quality.

Hopefully, adding more drivers will reduce the rates, especially during holiday season when the rates sometimes double because of the lack of drivers to compensate this high demand.

Here at PMBC Group, a Los Angeles Technology PR Firm, we are looking forward to seeing more Uber drivers on the streets to help all those celebrating the holidays get home in a safe and economic manner.

Follow Friday: Modern Technology & Apps Improving Health Care

Technology has most certainly had an influence on health care.  From online patient profiles to an app that transmits heart palpitations to Instagram, mobile applications and accessibility to technology have undoubtedly enhanced healthcare.

Accessibility to information software and mobile applications have drastically altered both the patient and doctor approach to health care.  A lot of these apps have made improvements in the medical industry and have proven to be very beneficial.  Doctors are using apps to keep track of patient records and documentation, and even have the ability to monitor patients thereby decreasing the number of doctor visits.  The modernization has spanned beyond the doctor’s office and into the hands of the public.

Parking Garages To Be Designed For A Car-Less Future

The term “recycling” is being used on an entirely different level with future parking garages built to transform into a living space.

Would you ever imagine yourself living in an apartment complex that was once originally a parking garage? Probably not, but according to an article by The Atlantic Cities, it’s already been done.

A developer transformed a Hertz parking garage into an uber-luxury residential building. What makes this project unique is the developer’s decision to not bulldoze the garage but to simply renovate it.

It’s now a growing principle to have all urban parking garages built with “good bones,” in order to permit them to be re-purposed into apartments or office buildings in the future. This is a logical proposition since higher gas prices and faster transit options are driving more people away from using their car as transportation.  With fewer cars, they will be less need for parking lots.

To modify a structure instead of demolish it will save developers time, money, and material waste. Now that’s something to imagine for your city in the future.

Here at PMBC Group, a Los Angeles Art & Design PR Firm, we are thrilled to be a part of an industry that sets the trend for innovative future installments.

Eco-Cities: The Future of Real Estate

Sustainable design has been a common real estate trend in recent years.  Ecological stability has proven to be of more importance as we face global issues such as pollution, agricultural production and overall health and well-being.  Green technologies have grown from recycled goods to energy evaluation and now entire eco-friendly communities.

Surbana Urban Planning Group has formulated a plan for Tianjin Eco-city, a sustainable community that is expected to be up and running by 2020.  The community is said to feature the latest in energy-saving technology.  The 30 square kilometer (about 18 square miles) eco-city will act as an example for subsequent eco-communities while highlighting the ultramodern architectural technologies as well as environmentally conscious developments.

The community is expected to house approximately 350,000 residents and will be in close proximity to business parks in the Tianjin area.  The eco-city will also feature a progressive light rail transit system and landscape options.  Additionally, the community will take advantage of water recycling, waste treatment, wind power and solar power.

Here at PMBC Group, a Los Angeles based Real Estate PR firm, we are always fascinated by the architectural modernization that lead to ecological advancement.

Follow Friday: Charity Miles Takes Steps for Charity

Every year, hundreds of events to raise money and awareness about certain causes are held in the form of walks, marathons, and bike-a-thons. While great amounts of money are raised through these annual events, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to donate to your favorite charity each time you step outside to exercise?  There’s now an app which lets you do just that.

Charity Miles is a free app which allows users to rack up earnings for charities based on the miles they bike, walk, or run. By loading the app and choosing a charity to donate to, the app tracks the miles traveled and computes that into earnings. Bikers earn 10 cents a mile, while runners and walkers earn 25 cents a mile. Charity Miles will donate up to $1,000,000 to charities.

Participating charities include the ASPCA, Habitat for Humanity, Autism Speaks, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Pencils of Promise, which our client, Be Great Partners, recently presented a check for $25,000 to, and many more.

Here at PMBC Group, a Los Angeles based Non-Profits PR firm, we urge all of you to join the movement and download and share this app with friends to help raise money for these great causes.

What charity would you choose to donate to?

History Repeating Itself? Snapchat Edition

Thanks to The Social Network, we all have a solid understanding of the development and subsequent conflicts surrounding the creation of Facebook. We have learned that creating an Internet success can bring out a competitive edge in its founders, as the creation does take many’s input.

Like Facebook, the popular phone app Snapchat was conceived by a small group of guys in the hallways of an university. For the photo-messaging app, that school was Stanford and the founders have been though to be Bobby Murphy and Evan Spiegel.

Snapchat’s Winklevoss and alleged third founder, Reggie Brown, is now suing the app reportedly valued at $3-4 billion for making his involvement disappear. According to Brown and his court case evidence, it appears former fraternity brothers and Snapchat creators, Murphy and Spiegel are quite skilled in making things disappear. But unlike the photos their users send, brown has emails, texts, and proposals showing his involvement.

Here at PMBC Group, a Los Angeles Technology PR Firm, we’re enthusiastic about following changes in the tech industry and just as with Facebook, we are wondering if history is repeating itself as this groundbreaking company excels into the rankings of Twitter, Myspace, and more.
