“Points” Will Literally Point You in the Right Direction

We have all been overwhelmed trying to make our way to a huge event or through a big city, and sometimes even a GPS can confuse us if we are facing the wrong direction. Wouldn’t it be much easier if we had something to point us in the right direction? Here at PMBC Group, a Technology PR firm based in Los Angeles, we continue to be dazzled by new and innovative technological advancements. A new development from Breakfast, NY may be able to help ease that sense of aimlessness.

Points is designed to be used for a variety of locations, including theme parks, conferences, and festivals. It is a high-tech street sign that’s connected to the Internet, with three arrows that can rotate 360 degrees to point in any direction you need to go. The LED arrows can display virtually any message, including street names, nearby transit, events, news, and tweets.

People passing by can use the small keypad on the sign to select the information they want to see on the sign, which can help people to find their way through an event or  city or even to a place to eat lunch. The information on the keypad changes throughout the day to make the options appropriate for timeliness, so “coffee” might show up in the morning, while “dinner” or “drinks” will appear in the evening. Points may soon be coming to an event near you!

Channeling the Best of All Worlds: SXSW

Celebrity sightings, unforgettable performances, one of a kind screenings, trade shows, gaming, chart-topping parties, stand-up comedy, and standout start-ups, the list seems endless at this year’s South by Southwest Festival. The marbling of conferences to festivals, SXSW, continually steps into uncharted territory featuring the likes of Justin Timberlake to new technology that can potentially foster a new trend.

SXSW, Tech PR, PMBC Group

SXSW alone has inspired similar festivals internationally while raising well over $167 million alone in 2011. Over at PMBC Group, Los Angeles Tech PR Firm, there’s one thing on the top of our interests: the standout technology. With a handful of start-up clientele we’re always eager to learn about the latest technology, especially the SXSW Accelerator. We were excited to find out that Wanderu, Phone2Action, Neurotrack, Plotter and MakieLab all won prizes. Each start-up reigned respectively in their featured categories and we’re eager to see the results.
