OverNear Tells Benzinga How They’re Putting the Social Back Into Social Networking

Louis Bedigian of Benzinga sat down with OverNear co-founder Bill Glaser to learn more about the hot new app that has just been pushed to the general public. Bedigian is quick to note OverNear’s promise to “bring your social network to life” while putting the “social back into social networking,” changing the way people connect.

Glaser told Benzinga, “[Traditional social media sites] are not an effective way to reach the friends that you would otherwise be able to connect with if you knew that they were going to be at the same place at the same time [as you].” Rather than being a discovery app, OverNear was “designed to connect you with people you are already connected with.”

Posts are made by users about their location, broadcasting this information you post as well as that of others. It has also been described as a “productivity tool” because instead of having to think of each person who may or may not be in attendance or even in the same location, the app does it for you in a seamless, timely fashion.
