The Dodgers are National League West Champions

In what can be described as a Cinderella-like season, the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched the National League West Championship in a 7-6 victory over division competitors, the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Starting off the season with the NL’s highest payroll of $230 million, expectations for the Dodgers to win and make the playoffs were high. However, due to the team’s dramatically slow start, the Dodgers were sitting in last place at 30-42 just three months ago, leaving Manager Don Mattingly in the hot seat to keep his job.

The Dodgers’ season would take a swing towards the fence with phenom, Yasiel Puig taking bat in the line-up. Giving the team the spark it needed, Puig and his teammates would carry momentum into the All-Star break, ultimately leading to a 42-8 run and becoming the first team to clinch a playoff berth this season. From zero to hero, Mattingly is now being praised for his strategic coaching moves and for his poise during a period of hardship.

Here at PMBC Group, a Los Angeles PR Firm, we are excited to congratulate and cheer our city’s baseball team on in the playoffs as it chases the Word Series Championship. Go Dodgers!

Victor Oladipo Wears Google Glass During NBA Draft

With the NBA Draft there have been reports of Dwight Howard’s unlikely return to the Lakers and insight into the soon to be blockbuster trade between the Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets, helping the sports realm make top headlines. However, here at PMBC Group, we were most dazzled with former Indiana Hoosiers guard Victor Oladipo for something he was sporting that was a bit surprising.

Oladipo was taken second overall in the NBA draft by the Orlando Magic Thursday night, rocking his Google Glass around the draft room before waiting to hear his name called by NBA Commissioner David Stern. We found this to be an unprecedented, but impressive accessory complementing his already classy attire.

Google Glass, if posted on social media platforms, will allow fans to follow and acquire a new perspective from the lens of an NBA Draftee, and not only does this piece of technology cash in at $1500, but it is not expected to be released until next year.

Spurs’ Ginobli Dazzles the Heat

With Spurs fans wondering if their beloved, former NBA Sixth Man of the Year Manu Ginobli would ever arrive to make an impact in this year’s NBA finals, he returned to form just in time by leading his team to a 114-104 game five victory over the Miami Heat to take a 3-2 series lead.

Feeling what was at stake, Gregg Popovich made an unexpected but strategic move by incorporating Ginobli into the starting line-up, and it was rewarded as Ginobli contributed with 24 points and 10 assists. With the Heat not losing consecutive games since early January, Lebron James and his teammates will head back to Miami and try to force a game seven. However, the Spurs have other plans as they will attempt to end the Heat’s streak and raise the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy.

Here at PMBC Group, a Los Angeles PR Firm, we are excited to see who will be this year’s NBA Champion and raise next year’s banner.

Do you think the Heat will force a game seven, or will the Spurs close it out in six?

NHL Stanley Cup Final Sparking Some Buzz

Taking three periods of overtime and nearly the duration of two games to determine the victor of game one of the NHL Stanley Cup, the second game between the Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins is brewing up to be another classic. As the Blackhawks came from behind to take a thriller in game one, the Bruins are looking to storm back and square up the series by taking game 2.

Don’t expect the Bruins’ vets to back down, as they were in a similar situation after losing the first two games in the 2011 Cup Final and battled back to win the series in seven games. Expect this battle to be a long series, as neither recent champ is expected to let up without putting up a fight. With this classic series occurring right before our eyes, the NHL should see a growth in fans to follow next season. Here at PMBC Group, a Los Angeles sports professionals PR Firm, we are excited to see all of the excitement revolving around this year’s Stanley Cup Finals.

Who would you like  to see win it all?

President Obama Gets In On The March Madness

As the epic battle is heating up amongst the four regions duking it out in the NCAA Basketball Tournament, it seems everyone is getting in on the action, including the President of the United States. President Obama announced his top choice recently, smartly going with Indiana, the second seed favored to win this year’s tournament.

This time of the year gives basketball enthusiasts, sports hawks or everyone with even the slightest inkling to stay current on trends, the chance to partake in the madness. Just as the President did, the best and most effective way to get in on the game, is to choose which teams will win what game. The formula here is easy: simply fill out a bracket of teams that are strongly slated to win, track their games and root for them until the bitter end.

While 64 teams go head-to-head in the quest to reach the Final Four and national championship games in Atlanta, the President and the nation will be watching closely to see who be crowned the victor.

gopro final

What started as a 35mm film camera has exploded in the nation’s fastest growing camera company, landing the GoPro CEO at the billionaire ranking. What many do not know is that GoPro, although creating mass attention the past couple of years, has in fact been around for a decade. It wasn’t until 2006 that GoPro even incorporated the video aspect to their camera, 2011 that they received their needed round of funding, and also that year that they came out with the revolutionary Hero 2. If you’re trying to get into some adventures this weekend, we suggest that you shoot like the pros because these pictures and videos captured with the GoPro rival all competition.

Weekend Warrior: Seize the Day

For those of us in Los Angeles, with the great weather of low 80s, this weekend is one to get back into our skin and feel like ourselves again. We have a list of five things you can do to give yourself that little “pick me up” your body has been craving.

Health

1. Put on some vibrant colored clothing. Nothing will brighten your mood to the vibrance of the sun like some color. If you dare to wear pink, studies have shown that this color calms aggression and anxiety.

2. Work up a sweat this weekend. Release some endorphins that your body has been missing in the office. You can hit two birds with one stone by exercising in the sun and getting some color and Vitamin D.

3. Indulge in some sushi and give your body some omega-3 fatty acids to suppress any low moods. This can be found in salmon, shrimp, summer flounder, and tuna.

4. Live like an Icelander who despite their colder regions, take part in strong social interactions and a flourishing arts and culture scene.

5. Make a To-do List. Studies have shown that by setting a list of things you need to get done and doing them, is like setting goals and accomplishing them. Your body and mind will be reset in no time. wee

What have you done for yourself lately?
